Export a project you have edited
In CapCut, saving a finished video means exporting the project into a playable file. A project or draft is the editable timeline; it is not the same as the finished video. This guide concerns your own projects and does not provide a downloader for other people’s content.
- Open the project and preview it from beginning to end.
- Find the export control and review the resolution, frame rate and destination offered by your version.
- Choose settings appropriate to your original footage and the platform where you will share the result.
- Start the export and let it finish before closing the app or removing source files.
- Open the saved video and check both its picture and sound.
Choose settings that fit the footage
A higher export resolution cannot restore detail missing from the original recording. Higher resolution and frame rate also use more storage and processing resources. If the project is difficult to export, try a lower setting or a shorter section to narrow down the cause.
MP4, when offered, is a useful sharing format. Check the actual options shown on your device rather than assuming every platform offers identical export settings.
Find the finished file
On a phone, check the destination shown after exporting and your photo or video library. Review media permissions if a completed export is not visible there. On PC, inspect the output folder selected in the export dialog; a successful export may be saved somewhere other than your usual videos folder.
Keep the project if you intend to make later changes. Exporting does not replace a backup of your original clips or editable draft.
If the export fails or gets stuck
Check free storage, including space for temporary processing. Close unnecessary apps and try exporting again with fewer heavy effects or a lower resolution. A short test export can reveal whether one clip or effect is causing the problem.
If the problem continues, record the platform, app version, export settings and exact error before using the support checklist. Preserve drafts and source footage before reinstalling or clearing app data.
